About Us

What is the purpose of the Kids Japanese Language Teachers International Association (KJLTIA)?
With the progress of internationalization and the increasing number of Japanese and mixed children living outside Japan, Japanese language education as a "Heritage language" for children growing up in non-Japanese speaking countries. It's time to think about. In addition, because of the global society, some parents teach their children multilingual education by learning Japanese as a foreign language other than English. In this way, the demand for Japanese language education has increased due to the aging of Japanese language education in each country, and local Japanese language education institutions, qualified Japanese language teachers and early childhood educators are trying to teach Japanese to children through trial and error. The reality is that we are going with anxiety.
Qualified Japanese teachers are accustomed to teaching adults, but have not learned how to teach children. Early childhood educators such as nursery teachers and kindergarten teachers are accustomed to interacting with children, but do not have knowledge of how to teach Japanese. The current situation is that both of them teach Japanese to children in non-Japanese-speaking countries through trial and error.
Furthermore, as the number of foreign children living in Japan is increasing year by year, children raised in non-Japanese-speaking countries can communicate with their classmates and teachers in childcare facilities, kindergartens, and elementary schools. There is an increasing need for teachers in the field to teach Japanese to foreign children living in Japan so that they can lead a healthy school life.
In response to this situation, we train and certify private instructors who have the knowledge and skills to teach Japanese to infants, toddlers, and children who grow up in non-Japanese-speaking countries without difficulty. I think it is important to create a system that can supply to the human community. To that end, the country, language, and culture will be required to establish an institution that certifies the ability as an instructor, and to improve the qualities and skills of Kids Japanese language teachers who teach Japanese to children around the world. There has been a need for a place to build a network of Kids Japanese teachers who are active in different places.
This association creates qualification criteria necessary for the achievement of the purpose by a private organization, works on ability evaluation, development and research of educational resources, and with the results, infants, toddlers, children who grow up in non-Japanese speaking countries or in Japan It was established with the purpose of promoting Japanese language activities in the target Japanese language education organizations.
